Meidiana Kusuma

Woohoo it was my first time visit to Bandung after I came back to Indonesia. I really can't wait to explore the city since I heard there were so many things change in this city for the past two years, well thanks to the Major. I decided to stay in one of people's favorite boutique hotel in Dago area, Beehive. Previously, Beehive is known for its cafe and last year one of my friend who lives in Bandung told me that there was a hotel opened in the same area of the cafe.

For me, Beehive's location is really good and it was really easy to reach even for those people who ride on local transportation. It is located on infamous area for shopping destination in Bandung, Dago. Yep, you will found some factory outlets and boutiques along Ir. H Juanda street and this street will quite busy especially on weekends.

Hotel Lobby

Lobby situation during day time

I amazed with the neat, spacious and pretty lobby on Beehive. It was too pretty, I felt like I was in the set of Martha Stewart's living magazine photo shoot. I believe you will also like to spend some time on this area. It has two side of walls which covered with windows and makes this area has a really great natural lighting. It was really pretty during day or night.

Check in was so smooth and I got a room on fourth level. For you information, this hotel has no elevator so if you travel with elder you better ask hotel staff to give you room on lower level. At first I was quite shock when I found out I got room on fourth level, I was like, "really? I need to climb stairs to fourth level?" but it turned out I didn't complain at all when I realized this hotel was really pretty on each floor. I saw some cute displays on each floor which would makes you do nothing but take photos on those areas. What an instragramable hotel!

Say Hello to my UBER CUTE ROOM

I booked this room directly to the hotel by phone, they didn't put this rooftop room on sale on some online hotel travel agents. This room has a really unique leaning side wall and more likely an attic area of the house. I've seen this type of room quite often on the movie but it was my first time to see it in a real life, hahahaha. When I stepped into the room, I was talking to myself "I really need to have a room JUST LIKE THIS ONE". I really super in love with this room, well who doesn't?.

This room is really spacious and has a balcony, which you can access from the door near bathroom. Since this hotel located in the middle of the city, you can't expect too much on its balcony's view, there will be no valley nor mountain view though. Its inclusive in room facility were quite complete, I got LCD TV cable, water kettle, tea & coffee corner, hot & cold shower, luggage storage, mineral water and toiletries.

Breakfast

During my stay in Beehive, I chose my breakfast selection right after checked in. Hotel staff's will handed you breakfast menu and you will be asked to choose two menus (room for two). I chose fried rice set menu, complete with sunny side up, beef sausage, cracker, and fruit meanwhile my friend chose Full Beehive breakfast which has toasted bread, hash brown, sauteed mushrooms, beef bacon, beef sausage, sunny side up, and fresh salad on the plate along with a cup of tea (you can choose between tea or coffee).

So what do you think about my stay in Beehive? Isn't it great?

If you traveling to Sydney, you will easily find some places named "hotel" in the middle of the city which actually a bar with a few room for staying or even there are some "hotel" which just a bar without any space for accommodation (why do they named a bar after a hotel name at the first place?). I passed this Old Clare Hotel building so many times whenever I went back to apartment from Central station. First thing, came to my mind was It just another "bar" type building with "hotel" named and I was just like "Nahh, nothing so special about it". One day I found an article from NY Times about 52 Places to Go in 2016 and on Sydney section, they mentioned about this hotel which I just figured it out that it really a hotel to stay in with unique concept.

The Old Clare Hotel runs under Unlisted Collection company who known for its properties in Singapore. It has mission to give a new live into heritage building and yes no wonder all of the properties are old-heritage buildings. Unlisted Collection combined two heritage-listed building which are Clare Hotel pub and The Carlton & United Breweries Administration Building to become their first project in Sydney, Australia.

Connell Room

Situated on Kensington street and just a couple walk away from Central Park shopping mall and Spica Alley food district, makes this Hotel a great option for travelers to stay. It has 62 rooms in total with 8 different room types, from Connell room, Abercrombie room, Clare room, Chippendale loft, Showroom suite, Mary O' Suite, C.U.B suite and Double date with Old Clare Room. It also has handicapped room in Connell room type.

can't help to take a pic, LOL

The company wants to keep some of the building with its original situation. It keeps some of the area as it was and changed some other side with modern touch. In each room, you will found some parts of the old building.

Beside its building, this hotel also has unique features inside each room, starts from their PSLAB pendants lights, one of a kind the Rag & Bone desk lamp in each room and custom cushions cover designed by former UTS student Eloise Rapp. Can't hardly with to stay in this Hotel, right?

Have you ever been staying in a hotel with song title as the name of the room? I did. Located in Bandung, Oliver's Hostelry is a one-of-a-kind hotel which has room's name and theme based on song title. During its soft opening week in 2015, Oliver's had 50% off room rate promo which surely I don't want to miss. In just few hours, I decided to call the hotel and booked the room for next week end. I booked train tickets right after I got the room. It became my first time train ride to Bandung wooohoooo.

I took 3 hours and 15 minutes from Jakarta to Bandung by train, safe and sound. I can't drive which means I need to take local transportation (angkot) to reach Ciumbuleuit, too bad the motorcycle online apps haven't exist in Bandung on 2015. It turned out I can reached the hotel just by rode one angkot to Ciumbuleuit from Bandung Train station, what a relief, right? OK it is a plus point, you can reach this hotel by public transportation. Well, you need to walk a bit to reach the hotel though with a little uphill street.

Hotel Tour

Oliver's Hostelry picked earthy colors for its interior and exterior. I amazed and fall in love with this hotel at the first sight. It has a unique facade like no other, with those brick wall. This hotel is only has two level with 18 rooms in total which has different theme on each room, how cool is that?. It was a smooth check-in and hotel staff asked me about my breakfast menu selection soon after I got my room card. I stayed all by myself but he asked if I wanted to get two different menu and I agreed hahahahaha. The area in front of the front office is cafe, it has pretty indoor and outdoor seating. well although breakfast will be served in your room but you can bring them up to this area he said.

Hotel Room

Welcome to my 211 room with Old Cape Cod code name. Actually this name was taken form an old song title from Patti Page which released in 1957. My room has a jungle and lake concept (I think) with all those boat miniatures on the top of the bed and leaves wallpaper. The room is quite spacious for two. The facilities are complete from toiletries, tv cable, complimentary mineral water, WiFi, and fresh towel. There were notes, tv guide and hotel guide on the side table, super complete with list things to do in Bandung and what is close to the hotel. There was also a card for weather forecast.

You don't want to miss every single detail on the room and this is so Instagram worthy, or should I called it Instagramable?

Can you spot those cool desk lamp and stool?

Breakfast Time

Remember when I said the breakfast is served in your room? yep, you heard it right. Soon after you got your own room card, hotel staff will ask you breakfast menu and what time would you like to get your breakfast. During the chosen time, they will deliver your food right to your door.

Here'are what I've got, a complete meal for two people, yes two people. I got one bowl of rice meal, one bowl of cereal, one bowl of fruits, one cup of coffee, one cup of tea, a bottle of milk for the cereal and soft-boiled egg. Just looking at the size, I'm pretty sure I can finish all the meal, except for the coffee, I don't drink black coffee in the morning.

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay in Oliver's and would really love to come back for another room type. I saw there is a cute pink room and Northern sky room with constellation wallpaper on it.
